I have been experimenting with no gel wash and gos lately. Mostly because I absolutely love the look of my tapered TWA when it's huge and fluffy! I get the most compliments when it looks that way. I love it too! However, I have trouble getting multiple days out if it. :-( I just can't seem to get that huge volume and bounce with a gel. I have tried conditioners as stylers, styling creams, cream gels, and light holding gels. But they don't give me the same results. I'm going to try applying gel only on my ends and picking out the roots to see if I can get the volume I want and still have enough hold for multi day hair! I'll check back and let you know how that goes! Today I am using wetline Xtreme gel and my shine and definition are amazing! The volume is blah though. Wish me luck! I always find a way....I don't give up easily. Lol! What do you use for max volume AND great hold?!

Peace and Blessings,

Congrats on your natural hair journey! It's difficult at first because natural hair is treated completely different from relaxed. Never comb or brush while its dry. Only while wet and loaded with conditioner. Use a wide tooth comb first and then if needed, a Denman brush to prevent breakage. (You'll still have some) When washing your hair, you want to be gentle and not create more tangles. You can even try Detangling first with a spray bottle mixed with conditioner and then putting your hair in large braids. Then washing and rinsing in the braids to keep the tangles away. It's important to use a good leave in conditioner, weekly deep conditioning treatments, and hair cream/butter on your natural hair too. Then style in ways that blend the two textures: braidouts, rollersets, bantu knot-outs, etc. Youtube has thousands of videos on how to do these styles. I hope this helps! Let me know if you have more questions!

Hello everyone! I hope everyone is having a prosperous new year and still enjoying your hair journey! I know I am! I have been very blessed! I was sent some products from Hannah, founder of Sienna Naturals. Sienna Naturals is a natural personal care company that is featured in Curlbox, Birchbox, and recently on Buzzfeed.com. These products are made with naturally derived ingredients and are free of harsh chemicals or toxins (such as Parabens, SLES and SES). It includes ingredients like Baobab Oil and Shea Butter. These products are made with ingredients known for their ability to decrease Eczema and improve the health of skin and hair!

I tried the Baobab Oil Moisturizing Hair and Body Shampoo, Baobab Oil Moisturizing Leave-in Conditioner, and the Baobab Oil Moisturizing Body Cream.

I thought the shampoo did what a shampoo is supposed to do. I rarely use shampoo but when I do, I prefer one like this. It has great "slip" meaning it leaves the hair slippery and helps with finger detangling. It has a pleasant, light floral scent and left my hair squeaky clean but not dry and too stripped. I followed the shampoo up with the leave-in. It was light, creamy, and also had a light, floral scent. I felt that the leave-in did its job as well. It is very thick like I prefer and mixed well under the gel that I used for my wash and go (Xtreme Wetline). My hair felt moisturized and soft! After showering for the last couple days, I've been using the body cream and it has left my skin moisturized. It is a tad light as I prefer body butters. But the product says it is a cream and it behaves as a cream should. It leaves a slight film at first but it quickly dissolves. Overall I enjoyed it. The smell is slightly earthy and mild. I really dont have any negative to say about these products! They did exactly what they promised! I am definitely going to purchase the shampoo! Check out all of her products at www.siennanaturals.com.

I've missed blogging! Ive been busy and have had alot going on! Don't we all?! I am active daily on Instagram. My name is "Fyecurls" on there. So if you want more frequent updates and photos of my hair, come give me a follow over there! I just updated my favorite hair products on here so you can still see what I'm using these days! Ive cut my hair alot this past year, so I'm vowing to leave my hair alone so it can go ahead and grow. LOL. In order for me to leave my hair alone, I have to keep it in protective styles like twists. So I'll be wearing twists alot for the next few months. My hair goal is brastrap length while curly. That is probably waistlength straight...Anyhoo, I hope all is well with you and thanks so much for coming to visit! :-)
I enloyed this style for about a week. I did large bantu knots each night using As I Am Doublebutter Cream. The only reason it only lasted a week is because I started missing my natural curls. LOL...I know I'm pitiful. Many have asked what was my process for getting my hair so straight and smooth. Here goes:

Before I washed my hair I pre-pood (pre treated my dirty, dry hair) with Nakia Amour Pre-Conditioning Hair Oil for about an hour (that stuff is the business! www.naturalkinkyandcurly.com ). I then proceeded to clarify/shampoo my hair with Carol's Daughter Chocolat shampoo. Afterwards, I applied Carols Daughter Chocolat Conditioner, detangled and twisted my hair in large sections. I applied a shower cap and left it on for 1-2 hrs. This smoothing conditioner has proteins in it that are helpful to your hair when you are about to use heat and straighten your hair. I rinsed it completely out with cold water and towel blotted my hair while it was still in the twisted sections. I then proceeded to add Carols Daughter Chocolat Blow Dry Cream to each section and blow dry. My hair dried quickly, got fairly straight and was velvety smooth! As I blowdried each section, I twisted it back up. I started to just stop right here and bantu knot, but I wanted to finally see my hair completely straight again. So I grabbed my maxiglide and added a touch of Carols Daughter Macadamia Heat Protecting Serum and began to flat iron each section. I used a heat level of 6 (It has 1-10 with 10 being the hottest setting).

After playing in my flat ironed hair for a while, I decided to bantu knot it. For a visual of this process, check out "Denimpixie" on youtube and search for "heatless curls tutorial". I used As I Am DoubleButter Cream to knot with. When I finished I applied my satin scarf and went to bed. In the morning I unraveled and got the look of the last pic above. I plan on bantu knotting again in the future just on blow dried hair...But anyway, this is all I did! I hope this is helpful. For any questions, just comment below.
Hello everyone!

I hope all is going well with you and your hair! Fyecurls has been struggling a little! (You like how I talked about myself in third person?)
My hair has been dryer and frizzier than usual lately. It could be the cold, drying weather outside, but I dont think so. I'm not having it! If your hair is not acting right, dont keep doing the same thing, change up something! I have a Cassia treatment being mailed to me as we speak(more on this later), and I have decided to go strict CG Method (Curly Girl Method).
This is a method created by Lorraine Massey and I've read her book and seen many curlies have great success at it. The CG Method is when you eliminate the use of silicones, sulfates, and other products that can block out moisture and dry out your hair. The only products that I was using faithfully that had 'cones were Herbal Essence Hello Hydration and Aussie Moist Conditioners. I loved these because of the slip they gave while detangling. But these conditioners will be easily replaced by Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner and Suave Naturals Conditioner. I only cowash(conditioner wash) now. No more shampooing. Conditioner can remove dirt and products from your hair as long as you arent using cones. If you want to give this a try, you must first clarify your hair to remove the cones that you may have in your hair to start with a clean slate. So one last use of a sulfate shampoo will work for this. Then stick to natural and silicone and sulfate free products to wash and style your hair. This is supposed to help your curls maintain ultimate moisture. I recommend Lorraine Massey's book Curly Girl:The Handbook for more in-depth info about this. But there are several YouTube videos and articles on naturallycurly.com as well as other sites.
I am excited to see how my hair responds! You know I'll keep you posted!

Peace&Blessings,
