Pics coming soon!

I am currently working on putting together a video of my hair journey! I've been needing to do this for a while. Boy, my hair has come a long way yall! I am too excited at the growth I've seen. I will also discuss my current hair regimine and products that I'm using. I am equally as excited at meeting new people on my site, and hearing your thoughts, tips, and products used to keep/achieve your healthy natural hair ! When did you stop relaxing your hair? Are you currently still getting relaxers and thinking about going natural???

  1. Hi, my name is Billynda and I have natural hair :-) Ok, so this isn't natural hair anonymous, but here's my story. I stopped perming my hair in November of 2004 because my scalp is very sensitive and I was tired of painful touch-ups. I transitioned by getting my hair pressed or flat ironed and getting about an inch or two cut per month until all of my permed hair was gone. I currently get my hair flat ironed about 4 times/year. If you're living in Atlanta, check out Too Groovy hair salon where they only do natural hair. This is where I go when I want my hair cut/trimmed/straightened. If you're in Little Rock, check out my cousin Cathy who presses hair out of her home and will hook you up. The rest of the time I wear it in a curly ponytail or two-strand twists -- so easy. My absolute favorite haircare product is Kinky Curly Knot Today Conditioner which I use as a leave-in and it is soooo good at detangling and making my hair more manageable for whatever I plan to do with it. So that's it about me, can't wait to hear about everyone else's fye curls :-)

  2. Billynda! You are the very first to post a comment on my blog and therefore you win a free prize: my lifelong gratitude and appreciation!;-)I personally love the KCKT also. It was the one of the first things I went to buy after going natural. (Even though I only had an inch of hair) Lol! I may be hitting up your cousin Cathy for a haircut pretty soon since she is located near me. Thanks so much for your story!

  4. I am so excited that you are considering going natural, WOW Fitness! I totally agree that naturally textured hair is way less of a hassle than relaxed when it comes to working out and sweating! Even though I only transitioned for 2 mos. before I "big chopped," I will offer some tips that I've learned from some YouTube naturals and family members that I know who did transition for a lengthy amount of time. Good luck with your journey if you decide to do it! I hope you do! Thanks for commenting!

  5. Hi everyone. I have not had a relaxer since September 2009. I am very excited about transitioning to natural hair. I see my new growth is about two inches now and I love it. Currently, I wear braid outs and bantu knots. I learned how to do rope "flat" twists and also learned how to do three strand twists, so I am super excited about having ALL natural hair. Like Billynda, I am cutting an inch for an inch! Thank you FYEcurls for starting this blog so I can connect with all of you nappy heads!! LOL...(that's not offensive is it?) I don't really know the natural lingo yet... :I

  6. LOL! Camilia you are hilarious! You are really becoming a pro at this transitioning thing. I may have you do a video tutorial on those flat twists, especially the 3 strand twists! ;-)Because I have yet to master those! Thanks so much for your comment, girl!

  7. Hi my name is Christie C-H-R-I-S-T-I-E! I've been natural for 7 years now. Best decision ever since I never really liked doing hair anyway. I used to perm my own hair and the last perm I gave myself I put so much vaseline on my scalp & edges I probably let the perm sit about 10 minutes before washing it out. A few weeks later I notice my edges look a mess. I did some searching and found the holy grail of all thing natural hair www.nappturality.com and was motivated by the photos I saw there to go natural. I did straw sets for about 3 months, a set of twist and finally sat in this womans chair and let her cut my hair off. And I loved it!
It grew out and I cut it all off about 3 years ago, it grew back out and then unintentionally started locs a year and 5 months ago. I had no particular reason for starting locs, as I went in for another style & loved the convience of not fooling with hair in the morning so I let the comb coils loc. It's been a great lesson in trusting the process of not just locing hair but trusting the process of life.
